We want to address our friends, fellow performers and fans.
As many of you in the community may or may not have heard, there have been concerns raised about the safety of performers at the Michigan Burlesque Festival. We take this very seriously and this is a top priority for us. We will have a strict ZERO-TOLERANCE policy in place at the festival, but for now we wanted to reach out to you all to let you know that we are listening and considering everything being said as we work hard on this year’s festival preparation. We will always commit to providing a safe work environment where people will be comfortable and free to be the creative and beautiful performers that they are. If you know about instances of inappropriate conduct or anything else you feel needs to be reported that may have happened at our festival, we invite you to contact us directly and confidentially. We promise to listen and to address all issues brought to our attention professionally and as promptly as we can.
We wish you all well and look forward to creating another successful and enjoyable Michigan Burlesque Festival. We will keep the lines of communication open, so please bring these issues to us directly. We are invested in this community and will work however we can toward ensuring that all issues of sexual harassment, bullying, slander and any other inappropriate behaviors are addressed, and the appropriate actions are taken.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any concerns or questions –
